Osteoporosis, Beyond Calcium Deficiency
According to NIH, more than 40 million people in the United States have osteoporosis or are at high risk due to low bone mass. Osteoporosis is not just a problem of calcium absorption. Because it is a complex metabolic disorder, the successful treatment and prevention of this disease entails a comprehensive organ system approach. Most conventional drugs today are limited to addressing calcium deficiencies and fail to enhance overall physiology. Dr. Jeffrey Friess, Naturopathic Physician at the Golgi Clinic, joins us to explore how enhanced kidney, digestive and lung function play a pivotal role in both the prevention and treatment of this disorder. Dr. Friess will also highlight simple yet effective treatments that begin to address underlying causes of osteoporosis.
